The best advice I got in Greece was to make a stopover in Paros on the way from Athens to Santorini. With little time, we were only able to stop over for about 6 hours. I wish I had more. At the ferry port, we headed into one of the many car rentals and got ourselves a one day rental for 30 euros. From there we headed to Naousa, a little village on the water with picturesque white buildings.
From there we continued inland to the town of Lefkes. Before heading down into the town, we stopped for lunch at Flora Taverna for lunch. The food was fresh and delicious and the views were spectacular.
From lunch we headed down into town which was made up of small stone streets and flowers flowing along the white stucco houses with colorful doors.
I have a desire to return to Paros and further explore this gem. If you are on your way to the islands from Athens, make sure to at least stop on the island and you'll be pleasantly surprised.
